Documenting the Soundtrack of a Creative Life

From intimate songwriter sessions to high-energy live performances, music photography is about capturing the emotion, identity, and atmosphere behind the sound. Encinitas Studio has had the privilege of documenting a diverse range of touring and recording artists, including New Zealand reggae icons Katchafire, genre-blending electronic group Miami Horror, California-based reggae-rock band Iration, and acclaimed singer-songwriter Keaton Simons. Each assignment moves between backstage stillness, onstage energy, and thoughtfully composed promotional portraiture, creating a visual narrative that reflects both the artist’s personality and their connection to audience and place. Through a balance of documentary storytelling and editorial precision, these images preserve the fleeting moments where music becomes experience.
